Home Care Services
What is Domiciliary Care?
Domiciliary care is a range of services put in place to support someone in their own home. Domiciliary carers are trained professionals who help people live independently in their own homes whilst receiving care. The type of care provided is unique to the individual with a primary focus on assisting with general household tasks, medication, and any other activities that directly contribute to someones quality of life.
Why Opt For (Domiciliary) Home Care?
Domiciliary care (or home care) is being sought after by an increasing number of families as it offers a greater level of control and input over the care received by loved ones. Domiciliary care allows people to remain at home and receive the private care they need whilst still being able to live their everyday lives. Something that is not possible, or is very difficult at least, when compared to residential care. Domiciliary care also offers invaluable reassurance to other family members who can't always be there to offer the level of help and support needed - especially in the case of specialist care situations.

Who Is Domiciliary Care For?
Domiciliary care is for anyone wanting to stay at home to receive the support they need.

Domiciliary care can be beneficial to people of all ages and with a wide range of circumstances and conditions. A 'one-size-fits-all' approach doesn’t work for domiciliary care because every individual person has their own unique set of support needs.

At Handle With Care, our carers are expertly trained to provide a wide range of bespoke care services to people with varying levels of needs – no matter how straightforward or complex they may be.

Domiciliary care is provided to ensure an individual can remain in their own home living life on their terms with dignity and the added comfort of knowing private carers are on hand to offer care and support with skill, empathy and warmth. Domiciliary care not only provides reassurance and promotes independence, but it's also a cost-effective alternative to residential care.

What We Cannot Do For You
Asking the home carer to spend more time with you than on your care plan
All home care staff visit a number of people each day who will be expecting them at a certain time. If they are delayed, this will mean someone else is kept waiting. If you need more time, please speak to the agency manager.

Medication
If you are unable to take medication or need assistance in doing so, then our carers can help you. If your medication is blister packed, then the carer(s) can administer your medication. The only circumstances where they cannot is when the medication has already been 'disturbed' by you. In these circumstances they can only assist you in taking your medication.

Changing curtains / light bulbs or cleaning windows
Because of risks of falls, staff cannot carry out any tasks that would involve them standing on anything where there may be a risk of industrial injury through accidents.

Provision of continence aids or specialist equipment
The agency does not provide continence aids or specialised equipment including (but not limited to) wheelchairs, bath aids and other occupational therpay / physiotherapy aids. These items will be fully discussed with you when your needs assessment takes place. If there is need for equipment or continence aids identified, referrals will be made to the appropriate agency or service.
